MELBOURNE TOPS THE 'FISH' SCALES FOR ARTS AND CULTURE

For a real taste of Aussie culture we needed very little encouragement to visit the Young and Jackson pub down by Flinders station. Rumoured to be the oldest pub in Melbourne and serving all Aussie beers and wines. We drank like fish and discovered our friend Angel was really no angel!

We discovered Melbourne's world-famous art scene in the graffiti laden Union lane and Hosier Lane.

WE'RE HOOKED ON MELBOURNE'S ATTRACTIONS

Fed Square - After 'catching' the tram back from St Kilda, we were dropped directly outside bustling Fed Square. The Square had been transformed into an improvised theatre with live jazz performances for the Melbourne Jazz festival week. It was easy to lose yourself as the music filled the air, adding to the vibrant street atmosphere.

Close by on Southbank, the Eureka Tower Skydeck provided the most breathtaking view far and wide of the city.
We were really 'hooked' on Melbourne's vibrant feel and awe inspiring attractions!

SAVOUR THE CATCH OF THE DAY IN MELBOURNE'S LANEWAYS AND ARCADES

Fish & Chips!

The narrow laneways throughout the city offer a unique mix of places to shop, eat and drink. Delicious aromas awakened our senses as we meandered our way through Degraves, Central Place, Royal Arcade, Block Arcade and Hardware Lane. Central Place provided the perfect place for a pit stop. Some of us savoured the mouthwatering catch of the day much to Angel's disgust. Others opted for fresh foccacia, sushi or little cupcakes. Apart from the food, perhaps the highlight of taking a moment in the laneways was the people watching; characters from all walks of life passed us by.

FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS - SHOPPING IN MELBOURNE

Fish nets!

Our favourite find: a pair of gorgeous Mimco 'fish net' stockings in the glamorous GPO building.

We had a ball 'fishing for compliments' trying on the latest trends in Melbourne's eclectic mix of stores. It's easy to lose yourself in Melbourne, winding through the mirage of arcades, malls and laneways, exploring store after store. Melbourne is a shoppers paradise, there's something for everyone, from the weird and wacky to high couture and boutique shopping.

YOU WON'T FEEL LIKE A FISH OUT OF WATER IN ST KILDA

You won't feel like a fish out of water in Melbourne's St Kilda. Anything goes in this funky area of town.
Life's a beach in this laid-back, funky precinct. Our mouths watered wandering past the famous Acland Street cake shops. Soaking in the vibe whilst sipping lattes at one of the cafes, we admired the local Aussie talent! Angel made a mental note to return and address his not so angelic side at the Vineyard and many other drinking holes along Acland and Fitzroy street.
